A new management plan for Karaburun NMR
Approved by Ministerial Order No. 77 of 13 March 2026 | Valid for 10 years
The Karaburun Nature Managed Reserve has now an approved Management Plan, marking an important step towards strengthening the protection and sustainable management of one of Albania’s most significant coastal natural areas. The Plan was approved by Ministerial Order No. 77 of 13 March 2026 and will remain in force for a 10-year period.

The Plan provides the framework for biodiversity and landscape conservation, sustainable use of natural resources, monitoring, and the management of activities within the protected area. It also provides a clearer basis for balancing nature conservation with traditional uses, sustainable development and visitor activities.
The approval of the Plan strengthens the tools for effective management of the area and supports an integrated approach to safeguarding Karaburun’s ecosystems, requiring continued cooperation among responsible institutions, local communities and other stakeholders.
